Global Land Data Assimilation System ingests satellite and ground-based observational data products (0.25 arc degree).
The data can be downloaded mannually or automatically by a tool.
Google Earth Engine also has access to the data. I have done a practice to convert the units and display the global monthly/annual precipitation and temperature.
Published in 2018, a paper in Nature named “A global map of travel time to cities to access inequalities in accessibility in 2015” (DOI: 10.1038/nature25181), showed a map counting how long would it take, at any place on the earth, to the nearest city center.
This data is also availabe in Google Earth Engine.
